Cause
Street2Feet, is a wellness program that promotes health in spirit, mind, and body among individuals experiencing homelessness. Street2Feet participants pursue a short term goal of training for, and completing, a 5K race. The program's long term goal is to share God's love, build relationships, empower participants and give them the tools and skills needed to build a successful and healthy life. The program promotes goal setting, self compassion, confidence and discipline through the joys of exercise. Street2Feet is a Haven for Hope partner.
For the last fifteen years, Street2Feet has worked with its participants three days a week, every week, to develop healthy habits and build community. Street2Feet also educates participants about the importance of nutrition, hydration, stretching, and general health through monthly clinics. Street2Feet's conservative training program provides participants the opportunity to complete a 5K at least once a month. These 5K events afford our runners several opportunities to enjoy the benefits of their hard work as they experience the thrill of crossing a finish line, whether running, walking or a combination of the two. Street2Feet athletes also give back to their community through monthly community service projects. The program's growth is one of many factors demonstrating its success, increasing from a handful of participants weekly to more than 120. |
